Overview
Simple Plan released their 4th studio album, Get Your Heart On!, in June 2011. It showed the band partially returning more to their original pop punk sound, but it also captured some of the clean pop style found on their self-titled 3rd record. Get Your Heart On! contains some of the best songs from the band's career, and spawned multiple singles. After re-releasing the single "Summer Paradise" with various different featured artists, the band was finally ready to move on to their next project by early 2013.
They had a false start in 2013. Though they were working on new songs at the time, Simple Plan ended up releasing an EP of leftovers from their 4th album. It wasn't until 2014 that the band seriously started album #5. They wrote many songs throughout the year, and by March 2015 they were ready to start recording them! It was a fast process, and by June the band had released a new song called "Saturday," which will not actually be on the album. In August, they released "Boom!" and an accompanying music video, and in September they released a third single called "I Don't Wanna Be Sad." The first official single for the album was "I Don't Wanna Go To Bed," featuring Nelly. Finally, on November 30th, Simple Plan made their big announcement: Their fifth studio album, Taking One For The Team, was scheduled for release on February 19, 2016.
