Gwen Stefani – The Sweet Escape

After the staggering success of her first solo album, Gwen Stefani was ready to release her second solo effort only two years later, and just months after giving birth to her first son. The Sweet Escape was released on December 5, 2006. The album had more mixed reception, and was less successful than Love. Angel. Music. Baby., selling 1.7 million copies in the US and reaching #3 on the Billboard 200.Five singles were released: "Wind It Up," "The Sweet Escape," "4 In The Morning," "Now That You Got It," and "Early Winter." The Sweet Escape was largely comprised of songs left over from the previous album, but many of the songs went in a more modern, hip-hop influence direction. It was a good sophomore album that explored new territory while staying true to Gwen's style. Gwen later said she'd never do another solo album, and she reunited with No Doubt to release an album in 2012. But by 2014, Gwen started talking about coming back for solo album number three.

Highlights on The Sweet Escape include "Early Winter," "Now That You Got It," "4 In The Morning," "Don't Get It Twisted," and "Wonderful Life."
