Green Day – Warning

Green Day 2000 Warning

Green Day released their 6th studio album, Warning, on October 3, 2000. Following the tremendous success of their major label debut, Dookie, each album the trio released thereafter showed a decline in sales and overall attention. Warning was the last step in this downward spiral, and though it didn't do as well when it first came out, it has since earned a reputation as a fan favorite for those who can look beyond Dookie and American Idiot. The lead single was Green Day's first overtly political track, and "Minority" was a punchy call against the "Moral Majority" of the right wing. The title track served as the second single, followed by "Waiting" and "Macy's Day Parade." The singles represent the album well. Warning has less of the pop punk sheen that Green Day had been known for, and instead took on a folkier sound more inspired by Bob Dylan. The songwriting laid the groundwork for what would become Green Day's big comeback: American Idiot

Highlights on Warning include "Misery," "Waiting," "Warning," "Minority," and "Macy's Day Parade."
